AnaSonde-2A and AnaSonde-2G

The AnaSonde-2 family includes Anasphere's research-grade radiosondes, and also forms the basis for many custom radiosonde designs. The AnaSonde-2 radiosondes (in contrast to our educational AnaSonde-1 and –3 versions) feature high-speed, research-grade temperature and humidity sensors which are individually calibrated, pressure sensors which may be individually calibrated as applications dictate, and an option for a GPS receiver for wind measurements. A variety of transmitters can be used with these radiosondes, and a specific transmitter is selected for use in consultation with the customer.

The AnaSonde-2 family is broadly divided into two subtypes: the AnaSonde-2A which does not include GPS, and the AnaSonde-2G which does include GPS.

The AnaSonde-2 family has also formed the basis for no less than four custom derivatives, described below. These variants can be implemented based on either variant (the –2A or the –2G) depending on user needs.

Dropsonde. Anasphere has developed a dropsonde system which consists of a launcher payload that can dispense dropsondes while flying on a high-altitude zero-pressure balloon. The dropsondes are based on the AnaSonde-2G, and feature a radio modem link to the launcher payload.

High-resolution wind profiling sonde. This is another variant of the AnaSonde-2G. Its function is to gather a supremely high resolution vertical wind profile over the lowest several hundred meters of the atmosphere at a 1 Hz rate corresponding to nominally a 2-meter vertical resolution.

Radiation measurement sonde. This is a variant of the AnaSonde-2A, and includes a Geiger counter for atmospheric radiation measurements (e.g., cosmic rays). This sonde finds applications in university research and education.

High-altitude balloon data logger. This is a variant of the AnaSonde-2G, and has on-board memory for logging meteorological measurements, position data, and extra channel information. A telemetry output line is provided but a transmitter is not included, so that end users may couple it with a transmitter compatible with their system.
